THE KNOWLEDGE SUBSIDY

We will reimburse for the below costs:   

• Cost WizAnn Knowledge School Tuition Fees for 2 years
• One DBS Disclosure application
• One medical assessment
• One Knowledge of London (all London) written examination
• One Knowledge of London appearance
• One TfL taxi driver licence application
• One TfL Grant of Licence.

NOTE: The reimbursements will not cover exam resits.

No, you must have your black cab license at the time of applying for the subsidy. This is one of the checks we carry out before any payments are approved.

No, you must be registered with FREENOW at the time of your application. Simply register with FREENOW first, then submit your subsidy application.

Yes, you are eligible, provided you meet the following criteria:

• You must be a WizAnn Knowledge School graduate in 2025.
• You must be registered with FREENOW as a Black Cab driver at the time of application.
• Your application must be submitted within the application deadlines below:
  • If you graduated in 2025 and obtained your license before 1st August 2025, you must apply by 30th November 2025.
  • If you graduate after 1st August 2025, you must apply within 3 months of obtaining your license.

The application deadline depends on your graduation date from WizAnn Knowledge School in 2025:

• If you graduated in 2025 and obtained your license before 1st August 2025, you must apply by 30th November 2025.
• If you graduate after 1st August 2025, you must apply within 3 months of obtaining your license.

You’ll be notified within 1 week of submitting your application.

Your enrollment starts at the beginning of the month following your application approval. Enrollment marks the start of the month in which you are expected to meet your ride target to receive your monthly subsidy payment.

Your subsidy is paid out in monthly reimbursements over 11 months, subject to meeting your monthly rides target. Here’s how it works:

1. Application confirmation: Within 7 days of submitting your application, you will receive an email confirming your application status. If your application is successful, the email will also include instructions on where and how to upload your receipts as proof of payment for eligible fees.
2. Upload proof of payment: Upload valid receipts or invoices for all fees covered under our subsidy programme. Only fees accompanied by valid proof of payment will be eligible for reimbursement.
3. Meet your monthly rides target: After your proof of payment is validated, you must achieve your monthly rides target to qualify for the monthly reimbursements.
4. Receive payment: Once both conditions are met, your proof of payment is validated and you’ve met your monthly rides target, plus any other requirements set out in the Terms and Conditions, you will receive your subsidy payment directly into your bank account on a monthly basis.

PLEASE NOTE:

• We can only reimburse fees that are part of the subsidy programme and for which valid proof of payment has been submitted.
• If you do not meet your monthly rides target in any given month, you will not receive that month’s subsidy, and the missed portion is not recoverable in subsequent months.
• If you meet your monthly rides target in a given month, you will receive the subsidy for that month.

You must complete at least 30 rides per month, including your first month, to qualify for each subsidy payment.

1. If you meet the Monthly Eligibility Criteria each month and you have submitted evidence of payment for all of the items covered within our subsidy, the Maximum Subsidy Value of £2,112 will be split into 11 monthly reimbursements. The first 10 monthly reimbursements will be for the sum of £200 and the last monthly reimbursement will be for the sum of £112.
2. If you did not submit valid evidence of payment for all of the items covered in the subsidy, we will notify you of how your Adjusted Maximum Subsidy Value will be split each month if you meet the Monthly Eligibility Criteria.  

• The payment for your first month post-enrollment will be made at the beginning of the second month post-enrollement.
• For example, if you applied for the subsidy in August and your application is successful, you will be enrolled in the following month, September. If you complete the ride target of 30 rides during September, you will receive your first payment at the start of October.

You won’t receive a subsidy payment for that month, as all payments are subject to monthly trip completion verification. Missed payments cannot be carried over or reimbursed at a later date.
