Our Freenow by Lyft Round Up and Donate feature proves that small actions can lead to extraordinary impact. With just one tap in the app, users can choose to round up their ride fare to the nearest full euro/pound/zloty — and every single cent of the difference goes directly to our partnered charities.

This simple option turns everyday journeys into meaningful change. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our users across Europe, since launching this feature in 2022, Freenow users raised €5.4 million in donations, supporting life-changing work by various NGO partners.

In 2025 alone, Freenow users donated a total of more than €1 million with Round Up and Donate. This remarkable effort means that on average, every donor contributed €5.16 and every ride rounded up generated €0.47 for charity.

Over the years, we are proud to partner with various global and local NGOs. Since 2022, Round up and Donate across different Freenow markets empowers International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). This support is crucial in helping the Red Cross deliver life-saving aid where it’s needed most, providing medical care and support worldwide.

See what other incredible organisations across Europe our users donated to in 2025:

Through an impactful partnership with the Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA), Freenow users in Ireland have donated a vital €342,000 to help sustain the IWA’s nationwide bus network, ensuring members can access essential services, appointments, and community activities that foster greater independence.

Recognising that taxis are a critical door-to-door component of Ireland’s public transport system, Freenow by Lyft fully supports National Transport Authority (NTA) initiatives such as the Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle (WAV) licence requirement and the WAV Grant Scheme, which empowers drivers to provide inclusive transport.

With nearly €220 k raised for Der Wünschewagen - Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB) in 2025, Freenow users are helping seriously ill people in the final phase of their lives visit a favorite place one last time. Donations cover the operating costs of this wholly donor-funded project across its 23+ locations in Germany.

Our partnership with The Smile of the Child in Greece is aimed to strengthen their fleet and ensure uninterrupted operation of their 10 action centers, enabling rapid search and rescue support for children and families in need.

Beyond Round Up and Donate, in Greece we are also supporting the following organisations:

  • Make-A-Wish Greece - with essential taxi rides to make children’s wishes come true.

  • The Lighthouse for the Blind of Greece - by covering taxi rides for beneficiaries to attend daily activities and access healthcare safely.

  • Reading to the Others - by providing taxi rides to enable beneficiaries to participate in daily community programs.

In Poland, throughout 2025 we partnered with two vital organizations:

  • SiePomaga: Freenow donations collected until April 2025 contributed to the foundation’s nationwide fundraising campaign for humanitarian aid and disaster recovery efforts following the heavy floods impacting Polish cities in the summer of 2024.

  • Fundacja Labrador: Since October 2025 Freenow supports the training of Labrador Retrievers as guide dogs for the blind and visually impaired, promoting inclusion and raising awareness about their owners legal rights to access public transport and taxis.

In 2025 funds were raised for Cruz Roja Española to support humanitarian aid projects in Valencia, playing a key role in both the emergency response and long-term recovery efforts following the DANA floods.

Since 2026, Freenow by Lyft in Spain is collaborating with Fundación Aladina, the NGO chosen by our Spanish passengers. Fundación Aladina provides essential emotional, psychological, and material support to children and teenagers with cancer and their families.

Making an Impact in North America with Lyft

We are also celebrating the remarkable global impact of the Round Up and Donate concept, which has been embraced by Lyft in North America. Since its launch in 2017, the program has reached a massive milestone, with riders contributing over $42 million to nonprofit organizations across the United States and Canada through more than 100 million individual donations. Read more about the Lyft community's collective generosity and impact on the Lyft blog.
